Patrick Gates and Sunita Parasuraman, Non-Executive Directors, Helfie

Helfie has appointed Patrick Gates and Sunita Parasuraman to its Board as Non-Executive Directors, bringing decades of experience from Apple, Meta, and Airbnb to the health platform’s leadership team.

The two appointments strengthen Helfie’s technology and governance capabilities as the company scales its AI-powered preventative health network globally.

A three-decade career at the centre of consumer tech

Gates spent 14 years at Apple, where he played a central role in building iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, and the iTunes Store. After leaving Apple, he became Chief Technology Officer at Humane, the AI hardware startup, before joining Airbnb as Vice President and Technical Fellow, where he helped lead major AI-driven product updates.

“Helfie is building something genuinely important, and the case for accessible preventative health has never been greater,” Gates said. “I’m excited to help the team navigate the infrastructure and scale challenges that come with building a global health network.”

From Meta’s treasury desk to Helfie’s boardroom

Parasuraman brings more than 25 years of industry experience across Apple, Genentech, VMware, and Meta. During her 12 years at Meta, she served as Global Head of Treasury, building and leading the company’s global treasury organisation and overseeing the reserve backing Meta’s Libra/Diem digital stablecoin initiative. She later became Meta’s Head of Investments and New Product Experimentation. She currently sits on the boards of IREN Limited (NASDAQ: IREN), The Baldwin Insurance Group (NASDAQ: BWIN), and BitGo Holdings.

“Helfie’s accessible, intelligent preventative health tools could improve living standards for individuals and communities worldwide,” Parasuraman said. “I look forward to bringing my experience in technology governance and responsible scaling to support Helfie’s growth.”

    The timing is perfect

Helfie Chairman Tony de Fougerolles said the appointments come at a pivotal point for the company. “Patrick has built infrastructure that serves hundreds of millions of users at Apple and led AI transformation at a global scale,” he said. “Sunita has navigated the intersection of technology, governance, and regulation at some of the most complex organisations. Together, they strengthen our Board and will accelerate our mission to bring accessible preventative healthcare to everyone.”
